Coconut Oil Will Change Your Life

As a little girl who spent some time in the French West Indies, coconut was just a part of life.  My Family had (has) a coconut tree in the yard of the house, and of course, about four at the beach house! I was told that Coconut water detoxifies,  so drinking too much would draw out impurities, which it did so and my face broke out; the oil was great for my hair, I was told because that is what the native Arawak Tribal women (I am a descendant of that tribe) used to make their hair black and shiny, so I was going to school smelling like raw, unrefined oil, and it was not a pleasant scent.  The best part about the coconut, other than the water was picking the "dried coconut" that fell off the tree, peel it and get to the nut to make coconut milk...until I realized how much work it actually is. Yes this picture depicts the steps to making the milk (I will save that for another blog post).

Today, coconut oil is being hailed as the most unique product with multiple uses.  I am grateful that this is something I have always known.  Where I would once have to have the oil shipped from the islands because it was not available in the States, to finding a factory in the Philippines that would ship to me direct, I can now go to almost ANY store and get coconut oil! GREAT! So now let's talk about the benefits.

Coconut oil is one of the most unique products on the market right now.  The benefits it will bring to your life when used is just too amazing to go unnoticed.  Not only can you cook with coconut oil, but it is also amazing for all of your beauty needs. I will share some of the best ways to  use coconut oil that will be life changing.

Kiss Me Nature makes this great Coconut Sugar Scrub. It can be uses all over your body, I use it as an exfoliator for my face.  It is made with coconut oil and brown sugar.  Sugar is a humectant that promotes water retention.  Using a sugar scrub made with coconut oil will not only draw extra moisture to your skin but the oil will lock in the moisture.

Here is a simple DYI sugar scrub recipe:

Homemade Coconut Oil Sugar Scrubs

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup Brown or granulated sugar (You can use up to 1/2 cup if you want your scrub to have a more coarse, sand-like texture.)
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • Optional: Essential oils. (No more than 10 drops)
Directions:

Combine all ingredients. I recommend melting the coconut oil to soften, prior to mixing, it will make blending easier.)

Coconut oil can also be used to hydrate and moisturize your hair as a deep conditioner, a pre-poo (applying the conditioner to dry hair BEFORE you shampoo) or a co-wash (washing your hair with the conditioner instead of shampoo.  I recommend this method at least twice a month).  All you have to do is heat it up (becareful, that it is not too hot as to not burn you scalp) and apply to your scalp and hair and enjoy the benefits.  It can also be used as a hot oil treatment.

Do you have a cotton ball? GREAT! All you need is coconut oil and you will have one of the best eye make-up remover in your personal cabinet at home.  And guess what? it also works on waterproof make-up as well.

Kiss Me Nature offers its customers the best body butters available on the market today.  All of Kiss Me Nature body butters uses coconut oil as a its oil base.  Apply one of Kiss Me Nature's body butter throughout the day and there will be no doubt that you will feel the difference. Soft, glowing smooth skin.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen! Stay tuned for more natural products for your skin.
